Scan a bug

One photo of the bug, a larva, its droppings or an egg case: you get the species, how sure we are, and a plan. Your first scan is free, and your email adds 2 more.

Get a clear answer

  • Get close. Fill the frame with the bug, in focus.
  • Add a coin. It tells us the size, which separates the species.
  • Good light. Daylight or a torch, no flash glare.
  • No bug to hand? Larvae, droppings, egg cases and shed skins work too.

What happens to your photo

It goes to the AI model that names the bug, and our server deletes it as soon as the answer comes back. We keep a record of the scan without the photo, and we never sell it. Signed in and ticked the box to keep the photo? Then it stays with your scan, and deleting the scan deletes it. The privacy policy, linked at the foot of every page, has the details.
